Cucurella was happy to take centre stage during a wild celebration event in Madrid, as he took the microphone and serenaded those in attendance. To the tune of a terrace chant that has followed him from Brighton to Chelsea, the 25-year-old left-back said: “Cucu cucu-rella, he eats paella, Cucu cucu-rella he drinks Estrella, Haaland you’d better tremble because Cucurella is coming!”
Ex-England international Gary Neville was among those to suggest that Cucurella may be a weak link in the Spanish side, claiming that it was difficult to see them “going all the way” with the Chelsea star in defence. Cucurella responded to that jibe after collecting the ultimate prize by saying: “We went all the way Gary. Thanks for your support.”
